Canada's source for Grohmann® Knives
The #4 Survival knife is modeled after Grohmanns original knife. A favourite for hunters with larger than average hands and also as a generous outdoors knife. This Grohman #4 features an olverlap leather sheath for added security.
Black Micarta Handle
available on most outdoor knives. Micarta is commonly called the "steel of the plastic family" for its strength and durability and is similar to G-10. Composed of layers of linen soaked in resin, it is lightweight yet tough, has a slightly linen textured look but fairly smooth to the touch when finished.
Carbon Steel Blade
Grohmann takes pride in their products and that means using high quality materials. Their carbon blade knives are made from a C70-type European carbon steel from Germany.
Carbon steel blades should be kept cleaned and oiled to prevent rusting. Carbon steel blades tend to hold an edge longer and sharpen up faster than the stainless, but they will corrode if not kept cleaned and oiled at all times.
When carbon knives leave the Grohmann factory, the blades are oiled with non-toxic mineral oil and wrapped in wax paper to preserve the blades.
Carbon will corrode if not kept cleaned and oiled, this is the nature of the beast, so be sure to wash your knives after use, dry and apply a light oil.
Overlap Leather Sheath
Superior handcrafted quality also refers to Grohmann’s custom designed leather sheaths. Every Belt Knife comes with a top grade oil tanned sheath. All leather sheaths are made of 6 to 8 ounce steer-hide that is glued, stitched and riveted for maximum strength & durability. Each sheath is then oiled tanned and polished by hand to give it a beautiful finish.
