ASEK (Aircrew Survival Egress Knife) Survival Knife System

This knife is used by the Air Warrior Program and other branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. Some of the included features of the ASEK include a serrated sawtooth edge on the blade's spine, an anodized aluminum strap cutter w/screwdriver and honing rod, and a pretty remarkable nylon sheath. The ASAK is designed for military pilots to aid in escaping an aircraft in an emergency plus provide a reliable tool for escape and evasion behind enemy lines.

Kraton® Handle

The Black handle on the ASEK is made from Krayton®. The handle is oval in shape with grooved for a better grip even if wet. The handle extends to a full tang providing great protection from the blade. The solid pommel is designed for hammering and features a glass breaking point on the end. Krayton® is a high-performance elastomer and offers many of the properties of natural rubber such as high traction but with increased resistance to heat, weathering, and chemicals.

1075 Carbon Steel Blade

The fixed blade on the ASEK is made from 1075 carbon steel and has a black zinc phosphate finish. With a hardness of 55-57 HRC the blade grind has a full flat taper with a secondary flat bevel. 1075 Carbon steel is an easy-to-sharpen, plain carbon steel used in knife making. The spine on the blade features a saw that is designed to cut through an aircraft’s aluminum skin. The blade itself is partially serrated.

Green Nylon and Kydex Sheath

Included with the ASEK is a green nylon and Kydex sheath. The sheath is MOLLE compatible and has a leg strap to hold the sheath securely on your body. Stowed safely in the sheath, but quickly accessible is the included ASEK Strap Cutter designed for cutting through set belt straps or parachute cord.
