The illustrated US Air Force "Aircrew Survival” manual AF 64-5 is a good book on search and rescue, combat survival and evading the enemy regardless of geographic location or climatic conditions. The "Aircrew Survival” manual has good chapters on camouflage and movement, survival medical and methods for avoiding illness. In addition this Air Force manual contains chapters on desert survival and cold weather survival along with shelter building and fire starting techniques.
